Join The Book Revue as we launch Rupert Smith’s book “Steal A Few Cents”.
The book is a thriller set on a coal mine – a world with which Rupert is well acquainted as he practised as a mining attorney in Johannesburg for the past 30 years.
Mpho Mamela is found dead, mangled beyond recognition on a conveyor belt on a mine on which he works. In preparing for the official mine inquiry into the strange circumstances of the death, the inhouse legal adviser uncovers a sinister chain of events. The action is fast and the characters are finely drawn. Rupert captures the world of mining: from the disparate lives led by bosses and workers, the abuse of power that comes when too much money goes to the heads of those in charge and the down to earth characters who dig for black gold.
