John Myburgh presents “All Quiet on the Western Front – a personal view of the Great War”

John Myburgh, SC, has been involved in the legal profession since 1970. He is a Senior Advocate at the Johannesburg Bar and was appointed as a High Court judge in 1991 and has been Judge President of both the Labour and the Labour Appeal Courts.

Despite being an eminent lawyer, John Myburgh’s passion has been the history of the First World War and we are delighted to have him present the first of a series of lectures to commemorate the centenary of The Great War.

“All Quiet on the Western Front” is based on the personal experiences of those who saw or witnessed action on the Western Front. These experiences are sourced from books, poems, interviews and letters and describe not only the conditions in the trenches but tell the stories of the wounded, the dying and the dead.
